Model T Intake Manifold Dates
Hello,
Attached is a photo of an intake manifold that I have. Gail Rodda's "Part Identification Guide" description and (poor photos) lead me to believe this is a 13 to early 14 intake manifold. It is an older publication and I am wondering what the current opinion is.
Thank you,
Terry

I believe the Ford script appeared on intake manifolds beginning in 1919.

Re: Model T Intake Manifold Dates
Is it iron or aluminum? I would speculate iron from the shape of the radius from lower manifold to intake ports. Also, I notice the "Ford" script. The early iron manifolds had a larger inside and outside around the radius into the intake ports, enough so that they are usually easy to see even in photos.
There still seems to be some debate as to when aluminum intake manifolds gave over to iron. Fifty years ago, "everyone" thought aluminum was used through 1915. More recent research from what I have read is that iron (with the earlier larger casting dimensions) came out around 1913, just when I haven't caught onto yet.

Joe-
1913-1914 manifolds used the same 1912 manifold pattern, but made of cast iron instead of aluminum.

Thanks Keith, that is what I had thought but never saw one before.

The aluminum-style iron manifold appeared in Dec. 1912. It was used for only a short time early in the '13 model year.
