Mounting a KW Master Vibrator on a 1914

Merry Christmas friends.. I recent acquired this early KW Master Vibrator and wanted to use it in my ‘14 runabout. I really don’t need it because the 4 Brent Mize coils are excellent but just desired the ‘bling’ factor. And I understand it’s purpose and how it’s wired but don’t seem to have any room on the firewall. So, in the Forum’s collective opinion, are speedometers and master vibrators mutually exclusive ? FYI, I really think it’s NOS and the excellent original instructions are folded in the lid..

Is there room to the left of the steering column?
Where they are truly useful is on the 13 and earlier cars!!

A KW master vibrator would have had a KW switch. Very nice master vibrator but with an added on switch.

Looks like a KW Master Vibrator to me John. May be an earlier version of yours. Les, none of the 4 brass brackets can find a place to mount wood screws to the left of the steering column

I stand corrected, I did not know that they had different switches. Thanks.

That's an anti-theft switch - I have one like it on my KW Master Coil also.

The KW Master Vibrator could be purchased with the regular kick switch or the autolock switch. Here is a advertisement and photos showing both styles.

Very good ! Great information all ! I never considered covering up the data plate Ed. Is it difficult to access the switch that close to the top of the steering column ? And both styles were offered at the same time according to Todd. This might be the earliest version of a unique key for a Ford instead of the common coil box key of 1909-1922 that’ll start all of em

And if I mounted it above the steering column I’d have to lose the APCO column bracket. think I’ll forego the MV Installation..

George,
KW also made the "AUTO LOCK" switch for the 1913/1914 coil box.
The only difference is "AUTO LOCK" stamped just above the lower mounting screw.
I have both and the internals are the same.
Also, the locking KW switches don't have the same internals as a regular
Ford metal coil box switch but they mount the same.
Doesn't help with the Brassitis, or Woodboxitis, but a bit easier to just change your two switches.
However .... it says Mastervibrator.

Howdy Mr. Parker, Sir !!
The KW Auto Lock seems to be a 3rd option on this thread. But I still think I’ll stay put with the 4 Brent Mize excellent brass top coils. Besides, I’d hate to cannabalize my KW MV just for the switch. Then I’d have an extra ‘14 Ford switch and a KW MV box w/o a switch.
Good to hear from you Ken. Merry Christmas to all
