Well ladies and gentlemen the last month of a year I'm sure we won't ever forget.

Got the new front spring and shackles together, waiting for the paint to dry on various parts and the spring clip bar. Will get in a few more miles on before setting up for winter and digging into band replacement.

Went to the Christmas tree farm in the T pickup to pick up this years tree. Merry Christmas to everyone here at the forum.

After several weeks of doing other things (cutting & splitting firewood, cleaning up storm damage, planting trees, etc.) today I got back to work on my mag ring.

Applying Kaptan insulating tape to copper ribbons. I put it on both sides. It's 1 mil, so the winding has 2 mils of insulation between layers.

Winding a coil. It took awhile to figure out how to tie a finished coil with wire so it won't unwind.

Four down, 28 to go.

So when can we start sending you our mag ring cores for rebuilding?

Waiting for some parts this week so I rebuided a few coils.

Steve, fine to see you back on the coilring.
You can use a 3/8 wide tape to block the end of each coil.
Don't forget to insulate the side of the coils at the place you plie over the strip to make the connection part of each coil.

I'll leave that to Andre and RV and others. I hardly ever finish anything as it is. I don't need to take on anything new.

Celebrated Wilma's 94th birthday with a short ride to the recently opened Johnsonville Marketplace.

This morning I put new pistons in a friends engine , and mount the coilring and flywheel.

I did the last bit of disassembly on my rear axle. I was putting it off because I didn’t have a sleeve puller but I made one.

I finally began cleaning up my field coil rings. The apparatus is a little crude, but it works just fine. 15 more to go.

It was 50 degrees and sunny yesterday in Batavia, IL, so ....
I was able to give the T a little exercise. Started on the 2nd pull.

Started freehand lettering (with patina) the truck. Enjoy

Started on the job of adjusting the clutch screws. The floormat is out, as are the front floorboards. The transmission top cover is off and the left rear wheel is jacked up. I'm hoping that in the next couple of days I will pull the spark plugs, then I'll have a go at actually doing he adjustment. Tomorrow is a birthday party for an old friend who is moving a couple of hundred miles away, so probably no progress until Saturday.

Got to get the boat done! Oh.., it will be towed behind a 1927 RPU on a period correct trailer and 1926 Johnson outboard. It only weighs about 90 lbs, White Cypress.

Absolutely nothing
I’ve been working on my new (to me) house. Sanded the floors, some new drywall and refurbished the kitchen cabinets. I hope to move all the stuff in the workshop after the house move and resume T work in February.

Hank that is outboard eye candy, I will stop procrastinating on mine and give it some shine. I also have the brass lower prop and tank needs the fresh paint and decals.

Henry, I love those old wooden boats! Also modern replicas of them.

I haven't worked on any of mine, however, am installing a new top on a 1920 owned by a member of our club. The hardest part is done. The bows have been wooded and pads installed with alignment of the bows. The windbreaker and rear panel are installed. Next, when we have another warm day, will be the top itself. Here at this time of year, we can go from rain, fog, hail, wind or warm sunshine. Some days get into the 70's and 80's. In 46 years we have lived here we have only had about an inch of snow a few times, usually if it is cold, there might be a few snowflakes mixed with light rain. We got some autumn leaves, but the next day the wind came up and blew them all away. About 2 weeks ago the wind got so strong it split a large Oak so I also have a lot of wood to cut up and maybe enough firewood for several years! So I work on the T when my knees and back are not bothering me. I try to do a few hours work each day but vary it from day to day. Sometimes raking leaves. After it rains there will also be weeds to cut and in winter some trees to prune. Anyway, when the top is on, the T will be almost ready to go home.

I am making the best of a fourteen day Covid quarantine and installed the fenders and hood. I still have to paint the correct fender bolts and screw the hood former to the firewall. I have thirteen days left so I am stretching it out. Art

Got new E-brake linings on the speedster. Pulled the carb of the 15 Touring to discover that the float was set about an 1/8" to high. reset to 1/4". Also discovered there was no gasket between float bowl and carb body. Glad I had one. Carb reinstalled back on car. Now in the middle of rewiring the entire 15 Touring. Long winters hear in Wisconsin are a great time for some tinkering.

I had two days of city driving on promotion work for Haigh's chocolates. Yum. Second day out, the Holley H1 resumed it's leaking when I stopped the van outside a couple of the stores. Then it decided to behave itself for the rest of the day.
I might finally have to fit one of Stan's H1 rebuilt carbs that looks too good to get dirty. At the same time, I can fit another alloy manifold which has no welding repairs and fix an exhaust manifold leak.

Attended a Christmas "Covid" parade for the town. People could watch safely as the cars drove past their homes. Lots of fun but dang cold.

When you have temperatures in the mid 50's in December, you take advantage of it! Our 15 runabout sits low enough with the top up that I can get it out of the garage with the top up with 2" to spare. Our 21 touring is a few inches taller and requires the top down before backing out, or it will be a bad day. When it is time for a quick spin, it's never much of a choice which one I take!

Redid 5 coils, 4 with new points 5th is waiting. When I sold the 1921 huckster all my working coils went with it. Just finished up regapping the vibrators on the 4, need to check now on the HCCT. Can't drive the 25 without them! Got a Craftsman tilting head band saw yesterday. Need to get carbon paper to start make patterns so I can rewood it. Don't want to cut the plans up.

I removed and disassembled my front axle and spindles. I boxed them up to send out for repair and bushings. I'm waiting until after the shipping companies get caught up before send them out. I have one inner bearing race that can spin in the hub. I'll need to address that when parts arrive.

2020 has been interesting, haven't had much time for the Model T. On the pickup had an engine wear out at 250k miles so rebuilt an engine and its transmission had a failed torque converter. So, got one from the junkyard, rebuilt it and installed at the same time as the engine. Wife's car had a flat tire and was returning from the tire store when the transmission on it gave out completely, coasting home. Back to the junkyard for a transmission. Lost two relatives this year, one to COVID. But we still have each other and our jobs. Overall, I enjoyed this challenging year and we finally got the floor welded to the body.

I always enjoy reading this monthly post. I am constantly amazed at the talent that I see here. This is an amazing group. Merry Christmas to all!

Finished up the 27 for a friend. Moved the RPU into the new shop and started the RM brake install. Discovered I dont need to fight wire or zip ties to change the brake peddle. The visegrips worked great.
