How do I use this?

I have a length of strapping with what looks like brass rivets. it is still in its original packaging, unopened. I think that it is at least 20 years old. it says in the label:

4060 S
16-27 cowl
lacing-rivets

ANTIQUE
Ford
PARTS

How do I use these on a 27?

If I don't use them, how much are they worth?

Very difficult to use on a 26-27. You’d have to remove the gas tank. And that’s the hard part. If you’re not going to have it Stynoskie judged, use pop rivets. I do

If it looks like a fat shoelace, it's the lacing that riveted to the cowl where the hood sits. It forms the cushion between the hood and cowl and it's a bear to replace as George attests. There's similar lacing on the radiator shell that is 'woven' thru the holes in the edge of the shell where the hood sits. That one is much easier to replace jb

Here is a previous thread about installing lacing on a 26-27 cowl. May have something helpful in it.

You may want to check to see if the number is 4060-5 as opposed to 4060 S?
If so it is Radiator shell lacing.

Tim,
I had a radiator lacing package with the number 4060-5 on it and thought there may have been an mistake on his numbering.
Jonah assures us the package says 4060 S. Not sure what he has there?
Maybe a picture would help.

Holy cow! That's an "S" alright! Sorry we doubted your eyesight kiddo!! But I for one just thought since it has been around for so long it has since faded and was a 5 that looked like an "S"...and if it were handwritten like my sloppy writing, well it could've!!
