Speedster is finally on the road!
I chose to title this thread “ Speedster is finally on the road” and not “My Speedster is done” since I don’t think you can ever consider them “done”.
To start off, I have wanted a Speedster for probably over 20 years. A little over 10 years ago this purchase got it all started.
A running ‘26 chassis that I bought from a guy that took the coupe body off for a hot rod.
Over the course of the next several years, to keep the cost down, I collected parts, bought and sold parts, and traded up for parts in better condition as I came across them. It’s funny how when you are patient, things almost seem to find you. The body was always the big missing piece that I was always unsure of what I was going to use.
Three years ago at Hershey I found this old body and it gave me a jump start and got me motivated to get serious about getting the car together.
A couple weeks ago I was able to get the car tagged and took it on a very cold maiden trip around the “block” for a total of about six miles. Ran great with only a few bugs to work out. This winter’s project will be a windshield!
I would like to thank the MTFCA forum and all who have contributed to it over the years. Without the incredible amount of information available on the forum, I don’t think I would have ever gotten it done.

No fenders. No top. No problem. That is the Speedster motto.
You really do not need that windshield since you will be using goggles anyway.

Heh check this out. You'll like this. Bought some parts from a woman who's uncle ran the great race. She gave me a picture of his car along with some other goodies. I forget the man's name but may be able to dig something up.

Shane,
That is so cool! I have enjoyed researching the history of the original car that the body came from. He ran it in the 1986, 1987, & 1988 Great American Race.
When I first bought the body I thought I would repaint it. After I got it home and really started looking at it I made the decision to leave it as is. All of the stickers from the race tell a neat story.
Thanks for posting the picture!

Thank you for all the comments and thank you for posting the links to the videos. There are a few clips of the speedster during the races. I had come across them when I first bought the body. They are fun to watch.

I don't like a T made into a hot rod, nor do I like a good T made into a speedster. However, having said the above, I DO like the fact that you saved a chassis from destruction and made it into something useful and T related. that is a beautiful speedster and I applaud you for your work on it. Please have fun and enjoy it If you ever decide to come to San Diego County, we have a speedster run every October. You will see a lot of speedsters, but personally I have not seen one like yours. It looks good!

Ed,
Congratulations! It looks really great. And it is an encouragement to many of us to get our project finished or maybe going again.
Respectfully submitted,
