I'm thinking he means he digs the modified T's, Tom. Gow jobs, speedsters, soup jobs, etc.
What they were called before they were known as 'hot rods'.

Re: I would love to see more gow jobs
Don’t ever recall ‘gow job’ til 1990’s speak along with rat rods! Most times hot rod, racer and speedster. Old days jalopy and for open wheel T’s were called ‘bug ‘s’ , long before the Beetle of course!
But anything with a hopped up T block is fine with me, just no chev shortblock

Re: I would love to see more gow jobs
OK, Bee's Knees, that's and old expression too!
Just to prove I like the gow jobs or whatever.....made one from left over parts of 1/24th plastic Model T scale kits, a try at replicating an overhead on the T block, with Warford, and later wires of course

And, Dan, there are those of us who try and live like it's still pre WWII.

Jason, maybe you could push for a 3 peddle vehicle with no gear shift or gas peddle? With all the throw back vehicles, it should be an easy sell!

Not sure if it was a “go job”... but it was Winfield carb, Bosch magneto, and Buffalo wheel equipped!

Dan, I just ran across the term "bug" in an autobiography written by a man named Charles Klessig. Mr. Klessig was born in 1911 in Eastern South Dakota. Even though the autobio was written much later, the fact that he put that word in quotes suggests that "bug" was a contemporary term. The quote below describes an event occurring around 1925-1927. Here is what he wrote:
"...They bought old cars and made them into 'bugs". With an ax they would chop off the bodies of the cars, making them look like bugs, hence the name.
"The body on my 1912 was so bad so I did the same with it. I started to make a streamlined body for the racer."
("My Highway In The Sky", Charles Klessig)
It occurred to me that terms like bug, speedster, gow, etc might have been regional. Today we communicate daily with like minded friends all over the world. And even now we occasionally have to ask someone about a term used in a post.

Re: I would love to see more gow jobs
You made me look it up. "gow" is a slang term used as an adjective early usage " 8 for GOW, 4 for PLOW"

Re: I would love to see more gow jobs
I think this man can best cement the term gow job. He is after all 99 years old now and was there and learned everything he knew from people like Winfield, directly mind you. Watch this nice segment, you be happy you did as this man was hot rodding model t fords before people began restoring them. He refers to the cars he saw, which inspired him when he was young as gow jobs.

Re: I would love to see more gow jobsg
David - great video of Ed Iskendarian! I was honored to spend most of a day with Ed last year. We visited his old neighborhood where he built the Maxi F head V8 T roadster - which I think may still be in the NHRA museum in Pomona. We stood outside his old high school where he reminisced about shop class and spoke about gow jobs.
