Gypsy Curtain fasteners
I just got a set Gypsy curtains for my ‘26 RPU and need some advice as to the orientation of the Lift-the-Dot fasteners. I recall a thread about this topic a few years ago but cannot seem to dig it up. Any photos and positioning tips would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Gypsy Curtain fasteners
Has anyone ever installed gypsy side curtains on an earlier car? I think they'd help keep the wind and weather out of my 1917 Touring.

Re: Gypsy Curtain fasteners
I just found out about gypsy curtains this week and am trying to find out more about them. I see that Lang’s carries them, but only for the ‘26-‘27 models. Is this the only year range they were offered? Tim, did you ever get any info about installing by them on earlier cars?

Re: Gypsy Curtain fasteners
Denny Newman was the one who told me about them. I found a few snippets of info but nothing concrete. I haven't done anything with it yet but at some point I hope to make my own. In the meantime I've been collecting parts...maybe a winter project Earlier cars present challenges since the windshield frames are a different design. My goal is not to have "period correct" side curtains but ones that will help keep some of the weather out. I'll probably make them out of material like they use for sailboat covers.

Re: Gypsy Curtain fasteners
I would think a marine service that makes boat side curtains could make something like that without too much trouble. Materials are available on greed-bay. I have been studying them for an enclosure for my depot hack. Moss motors British car parts used to have the lift a dot parts, but I have not looked recently.

Re: Gypsy Curtain fasteners
Denny was who told me about them too, when I took my ‘24 front axle to him last week. I believe he has (had?) them on one of his T’s. When I pick up my axle this week I’ll try to remember to ask him how they might be fitted to an older car.Oldav8tor wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 11:42 amDenny Newman was the one who told me about them. Re: Gypsy Curtain fasteners
I found some greenhouse fabric snap clamps that fit nicely over the tubing of the windshield frame without the need for drilling. I'm also considering using some flat rare-earth magnets sewn in the lower seam to hold the fabric to the door. Not "Period" in the least although if I'm on tour and it's raining I won't care.
