Fordson truck

Does anyone remember in one of the 70's Ford history books a picture of a Fordson based prototype truck? I think it may have been "70 years of Ford" by George Damman. I recall also pics of the prototype "improved" trucks with late cowls and fenders. Anyway, the Fordson truck has popped up on a Facebook site. It sure looks like the picture in the book of the truck parked on a side street in Dearborn. Owner says he inherited it and it was the only one made. Having owned a Fordson, I can believe that. Search 20's era vintage cars, brass era, and orphan makes on FB to see it. I can't imagine anyone going to the trouble to fake this thing, from the pics it would have been done a long time ago if it was. By the way, it's for sale. I sure would like to know how it wound up in the shed where it now lives.

Here's another picture of the truck before bodywork was fitted , apparently taken in front of the Dearborn tractor works :
By the way, this truck has been a topic before on this forum, if you search the old forums, more info should come up.

Going by the straw hat in the pictures I would say it must be around Steve Jelf's area. Cool truck! Jim

The pictures give a couple of details (modified TT cab, wheels, lights) that seem to indicate this is the real thing, if so, it is an important car ! it marks the Ford Motor Co first foray into heavier truck manufacture. I bet you collectors will be very seriously interested in it.
If you are able to buy it, do it, you can't go wrong

Got to be the same truck. I wonder how it got away from Ford? Owner says it's the only one.

I believe that Bernie Long of Bloomington Calif has a Fordson truck.
He was featured on "PICKERS" "Godfather of junk episode"
He showed it tom me once and was boasting that it was the only one.
I replied that if it was the only one it must have been a DUD!

Wasn't stated on FB but owner says contact him. Hard to put a price on a one of a kind. Look at the cantilever rear springs. That system was used on the early AA trucks.

I would hope someone from one of the two national clubs would contact the owner to do a photo and historical article. This is truly a important piece of history.

Article is in the works. This is going to be fun! Don't come across history like this just every day.

I saw one similar to that one once at a truck show, but I thought the radiator was further up front. Didn't Ford have one that they used at the Dearborn airport?

That is certainly a nice piece of history. I would make space in my garage for it! I would very much like to see more detailed photographs of the truck. As others have noted, similarities to the TT and AA. I have had both and would like to see the inspiration for various parts.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
