Built in 1918 and cars were assembled from crates on the second floor. You can see the crane track in the pictures

It's nice to see my old home town of Butler Pa. I grew up there and knew the owners of the Ford dealership well. The old brick building was covered in the blue steel siding in the 60's and a lot of people liked the old original brick better. The family who owned the dealership were very nice folks. Like most towns many of the great old buildings gave way for the modern look. When the new Fords would come out in the fall of the year the windows would be covered with paper so you couldn't see in the showroom until the official release date of the new cars. People would stand outside and wait for them to take the paper down.

That is so cool. I am working in town and come here every so often to work on printing equipment. I may try and stop by tomorrow on my way out.

What printing co are you working at? I was a press operator at a few small companies and then a major hardware corp for many years. The hardware was the third largest in the USA but was bought out by the second largest then moved out of town.

This thread is interesting to me because my dad's family was from Butler County, PA, and I still have quite a few relatives in Prospect, PA.
Also, the Ford dealership in Butler was the last stop of the Cranberry International Tour a couple of years ago. I was told the dealership is still owned by descendants of the original family, and they went all out to accommodate our group. The first floor show room was completely cleared out of modern iron and was staged with Model Ts. They were very hospitable and gave us a tour of the whole building. On the third floor (which has been added) there is a Model N (I believe) that was taken in on trade in 1949. It is being restored. The visit to the dealership was the highlight of the tour for me, since my roots go back to that town.
