A relative had asked me to help sell her late fathers 1931 Chevy 4 door. I know Fords, not Chevys. Anyone know of a forum like this for Chevys? I would like to research before putting it up for sale.

The Vintage Chevrolet Club of America has a forum with a cars for sale section. I don't know if you need to pay for a membership to list a car for sale.

I'm a VCCA member, nice group of people. 29-31 are very similar body stye wise... Prices on these are all over the map. I just sold a '29 4 door for $8k a few months ago, it was an older restoration in need of tires and a front end rebuild. There are a few that have been listed locally for up to $13k for a long while now. A few more that are listed around $18k for a long time.

They are a wonderful car when sorted, Chevy built them good. Unfortunately they are of the age where the folks who had major interest in them are either very old or have passed on. I personally love the body style, as a younger guy under 40 I'm a rarity. Unless it's a pristine example I wouldn't hold out for big bucks, even then it may take a while to sell.

You may also want to visit the AACA forum, free to post classifieds there.

I would say that the value of a 31 Chevrolet Independence series, that is a restored driver car would be about the same as a Model A Ford. It is a slightly larger car with a more powerful 6 cylinder engine. I would guess in the range of $10-12,000. If it needs restoration then it would be somewhat less than a Model A. The parts are not as easily available, and the Fisher bodies of that era have a lot of wood in them.
