longest time for original owner for a Ford

Post by ModelT46 » Sat Jan 16, 2021 5:41 pm

What model year would the Ford be for the longest owned by the original owner? I would 1940 , but perhaps 1946.

I would say you're the winner, Sir. And I admire you for it.

I have owned my 1910 T since Sept, 1946. I may be the longest owner of a Model T, but I was looking for the original owner of a Ford who still owns and drives the For and suggest the year of the Ford might be 1946 or 7.

To own a 1946-47 Ford as an original owner and if the owner was 15 years old when they bought it they would be 90 years old this year. Am I correct on what you are asking?
1922 Coupe & 1927 Touring

If the buyer was 25 they would be 100 years old now. That would Be possible.

My grandparents' generation, and earlier, had a strong penchant to value their
money and possessions for their practical use, not as a statement or fashion,
like marketing and advertising have groomed the public to do since. I find it
hard to imagine ANYONE today hanging on to their cars or tools or clothing like
people of my grandparents' generation did. Back then, if the _______ still did
it's job, why replace it ? Now, people "get a new one" just because the color
paint is no longer "in style". Back then, it was far more common to see old things
still around and in use. And even if not used, kept around "just in case". We
are such a "throw away" society today. I cringe at the attitude that brings laws
into the books, forcing people to get rid of stuff because the throw away people
find such stuff to be "yucky" and degrading.

In 1969, my parents "bought the farm", and opened up this crazy world of adventure
to us kids. Fields and woods and barns to explore. It was awesome. And there
in Mrs. Miller's barn sat the ready-to-go TT truck that inspired me to own its twin.
Had the Miller's been "fashionable", their old TT farm truck would have been long
gone by 1969. But they were those old frugal types, and since that old truck still
worked just fine, what was the point in replacing it ? We had lots of oldsters around
our place like this. It was normal. Today, it seems SO entirely crazy.
More people are doing it today than ever before !

I’m sure there are more long term “second owners” around now. My Dad has had his 27 Tourer since 1947
I’ve had my 1926 Pick up since 1964
