Rebuilding Generator

I'm in the process of rebuilding my generator. When I checked to see if everything was OK. I found 8 ohm when I checked with my VOM between the Insoulated brush holder and the frame of the brush holder. I was expecting it be infinity. So is 8 ohms to high?

You have a short there.
Maybe the reason why the generator stop working.

Rebuild the brush holder, or just buy one already done. Bet it solves your problem.
Or, do like I did, and chuck the whole thing and put in an alternator!
