Speedster project turns 102 years old today, born Feb., 4, 1919

Well today is the speedster projects birthday. It was born Feb, 4, 1919. The engine frame, axles, steering ect, are correct 1919 parts. So in my opinion it is a 1919 car. The rest is original Model T accessories from the era. There are very, very, few repro parts on the car. I tried very hard to use only period correct, original parts and accessories from back in the day. Right down to the correct original bolts and screws where possible. Since they were not cutting up many new cars in 1919, I feel like the car "could" have been built in the pre 1927 time period as a speedster.

It took over 30 years of parts collecting and then the last 6 years for it to be ressurected.

The photo is from about a week ago when I was able to take it out for the first drive ...

That's a great looking car. It must be a lot of fun.
My Speedster is a February car too. 1920 though. I built it in 1966 originally so it has been a Speedster longer (55yrs.) than it was a touring car (46yrs.). I too tried to make it as period correct as possible. There is a lot of satisfaction in that isn't there?

It's stories like this that get me to thumping and daydreaming, seriously...

As I worked my stable to a bunch of T's there were always easy answers on both overbuying things, and, not getting rid of things...haha.

The excuse was always,,,someday I'll build a speedster when I'm bored and have 99% of the parts on hand before I start! Sounded nice, worked at rationalizations and more important on the wife. But then life gets in the way...physically crap happens and the spare time becomes more reading time.

Thank you,

I'm sure most will recognize my Yellow Speedster. Here it is with rear seats and the Kids in Moab.

Rich, very nice. We are hoping to go to Moab area soon. So much to see and do in the area. Maybe we will take the T.
