Watching a Flower Bloom or a Tree Bare Fruit....,

Post by Henry K. Lee » Mon Feb 08, 2021 7:31 pm

Not really but seeing a young man confide in me about adolescence issues, on a bad path, failing grades, etc. To see him do a 180 turn around in 8 months is mind blowing. It is the most rewarding feeling and food for the soul to assist a young person on a path of life! I encourage all to get involved if you can with anything that interest young people in your respected craft. The pay is outstanding!

Donnie is passing all courses, clean cut with manners and etiquette, Just blooming! I am bragging but most of all..., PROUD!

Dallas, you have to drill all those holes in the bottom of the boat. How else is all the rain water suppose to drain out? This way if water splashes in, you do not have to bail.

I will take your word on that Dave. I know next to nothing about boats. I did look at one and bought it then pawned it off on Hank cause it didnt have ores or a motor! It did have some nice lightweight tarps and rope to cover it up tho.

The one Donnie was working on has a very nice motor.

I am truly moved and motivated by all of y’all’s love and support. I’m honestly surprised how much my perception of life has changed and how much my life has really changed in the past eight months. About 9 months ago I was flipping burgers and thinking about dropping out of school and also had no idea how cars, construction, metal fabrication electronics, and machining really worked. I had really no idea what I was gonna do with my life I mean no sense of direction what so ever. Now every since I’ve started being mentored by Henry K. Lee my life as he said has done a complete 180 and all I needed was a push in the right direction. I hope in my life time that I can go on to accomplish great things and have some sort of impact on the world around us. Through an amazing golden opportunity in life and through hard work and motivation of others and an absolutely amazing mentor I will surely make something of myself and plant seeds for future generations much like how Hank has done for me.

Good on you young Mr Mcneece and thank goodness for men like you Hank.
If I may Hank: Some "food for thought" Donnie, with your experience in the food industry, if you have a year or more you can also likely get into federal food inspection as a sideline or a mainline. Haha! My son is a CSI (consumer safety inspector) and a good wrench too.
Bless you both. :)

Hank, your experience with Donnie is the kind of thing we old teachers experience a few times in a career if we're lucky. They are also the accomplishments that we cherish the most. Congrats to Donnie and my respect to you. I knew you were a nice guy, now we can add "great" to that description. My best to you both!

The way to get youngsters interested in the hobby is to start them off young. Take them on tours, involve them in your garage activities, and stay active. It works.
