Hi all,
I've looked everywhere to see how to hook up a coil to test it and make it buzz. I have several coils and wanted to do this on my bench. I've seen people wiring hit and miss coils, but I need a simple diagram (not a coil tester) or a photo to see how to hook up alligator clip wires from the battery, spark plug and the three spots on the side and bottom of the coil. Thanks for any help.
John

In a car with a neg ground battery, the bottom spot gets the pos wire, for the two on the side the upper gets ground wire, and the lower one is the output to the spark plug.

+ 6 - 12 volt at the bottom E
Ground - at C
Make sure to have a spark gap (sparkplug) connected between C and D or you may get internal sparks destroying the coil.

One other caution: Don't keep a coil buzzing for very long without a cooling-off time. Just to pick a number, I'd say 5 seconds ON, then 15 seconds or more OFF.
