Unknown Part - 1924

In going through labeled bolts/nuts from the disassembly of my 1924 Touring, I cannot seem to recall where this part came from. It was in a bag of bolts marked Cowl/Dash. The piece is steel and measures 1 1/2" by 1/2" by 1/4" thick and is threaded to accept the threads on the screw shown. Can someone identify this for me? Thanks

How about a windshield stanchion screw (to dash) and a bar to hold it? The lower screw would use a nut but the upper is difficult to put a nut on.

Richard is correct. On my '24, both screws had a nut plate like that and the plates were a different length (I put the long one on top). :)

So are there supposed to be two, one for each stanchion?

Yes, one for each side of the stanchion to dash panel, on the lower machine screw. The gap at the dash is very tight and a wrench cannot be used, so that long length nut is a 'jam' and 'spacer' nut, (Part # 1307RX. {23-25}), fits into the gap and resists moving as you tighten the oval head screw.

The upper screw can use a normal nut as a wrench can fit there with ease.

As I recall, those are for the dash. The short one on the bottom, and the long one on top. They are not for the windshield posts.

I'll eat my words. They are more the the dash, however they do attach to to the windshield posts. I should have thought about this more before I posted. The short one on the bottom, the long one on top.

Original, are there two for each windshield stanchion? One short and one long?

I don't have time to go through all the boxes of NOS parts I have! All you need is a sample of each. They would be quite easy to make.

Here are the dimensions of the last two NOS nuts I have. They can be easily made.
Long: 1 1/2" X 7/16" X 1/4". Short 1" X 7/16" X 1/4". Both are threaded 1/4-20. Oval head slotted screws are used.
