Being a truck lover, those are cool pics! Thanks for posting. I like the Tapioca truck, I just hate tapioca!

F Stokes was not a dairy farmer, he was a cow keeper! Some of those old descriptions are quaint and often more descriptive than their modern equivalents.

The guy with the truckful of bushel baskets reminds me a lot of the pallet recyclers you see nowadays, sideboards roped together, and stacked to the rafters...

Thanks, Tom, for sharing these fascinating pictures of aftermarket body and bed manufacturers. Most of them appear to be furniture quality. Yeah, that fellow with all those bushel baskets doesn’t seem to be too concerned about who would be passing him when he turns left.... side view mirrors ? I don’t need no stinkin side view mirrors !!
I don’t know why I turned out this way. My parents were decent people

Re: Trucks an such.
I have friend, he's about 65 or so, said when he was young he bought a pickup and it had an Exide battery in it. He had the hood up one day and his grandfather walked by and told him, "Don't ever by an Exide battery, my sister bought one once and it tipped over, it stained the carpet in the parlor". From a time when you had a battery to power the radio. Can't see an Exide battery and not think of that story,

Herb posted a great truck thread on the off topic section a while back with many pictures of period trucks.
