Re: Weight of a Model T Engine/Transmission
That is about right with a starter and generator
Close to 100 pounds too much for a 1918 or earlier engine.
Here are a few weights I have recorded over the years
Weight Parts
126 1926 Short Block with Cam, Crank Shaft, Pistons, Valves, Valve Guides & Valve Lifters.
79.0 1922 Canadian Bare Block
79.6 1926 American Bare Block
78.0 Bare Block
17.0 1926 Crankshaft with gear, pulley and Pulley Pin
14.0 Mag Coil Ring
5.75 Camshaft with bearings, gear and gear attachment nut
4.0 One 1925 piston with connecting rod, piston pin, pin bolt, rod cap, bolts and nuts.
4.0 Starter Ring Gear
1.5 Front Main Bearing Cap with bolts and nuts.
1.5 Center Main Bearing Cap with bolts and nuts.
1.5 Rear Main Bearing Cap with bolts and nuts.
52 1914 Complete Flywheel with Magnets and Triple Gear Pegs
50 1926 Complete Flywheel with Magnets, Ring Gear and Triple Gear Pegs

Discussed in the past many times
By Dennis Halpin on Friday, August 13, 2010 - 02:47 pm: "If I remember correctly, you're looking at about 475 Pounds, complete with trans. starter, generator, the works." Indicates weight per component too

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.
