Hoping you knowledgeable folk can help me on a recent purchase. I bought the intake and carb assembly from a fellow recently. I think this is a Model L Schebler carb, with a 1-3/16" bore. I don't know much abought it. Seems like these went on many cars including early Buicks. The intake almost looks specific to the carb, but not sure on that either, there are no markings on it.

What you can you tell me about all of this, and while I am not looking to sell it, can you at least give some approx values?

Thanks!

The intake looks like the one they use for the UJ carb?

I would say you are right about it being a Schebler Model L.

This one on ebay looks very much like it to me. It has a $125 starting bid and $165 buy it now price. You can check others on the web for asking prices if you haven't already.

I could but if I did somebody would complain that I am using the forum to promote my business like they did about my post of the matching MB1s.

And then they complain about the old guys not passing their knowledge down.

I get it Stan. I have been a member for 15 years, and quite frankly, most of the forum is a huge turn off to what it once was. Some of the greats that have passed are probably rolling over in their graves.....God I miss some of them fine folk.

I've sent you an email off the forum so hopefully you can help. Thank You all.

Stan

I invite you to bring all your photos and discussion over to Model T Club of Facebook. Lots of positive discussions there.

Stan, ignore the naysayers. Their complaints say more about them than you.

Chad, a quick scan looks like Buick and some others used a Schebler L carburetor around 1913. The air valve carbs can be fussy to get right. A friend has a Schebler S Duplex on his 1929 Kissel, and the carburetor went through four restoration shops before one of them finally realized that the air valve spring was fatigued. Replacing a 25c spring suddenly made an unruly carb behave. For anything specialized like that, I look at ebay sold auctions to get an idea of current market prices. Good luck!

Very interesting mechanism with the way the main jet varies with the opening of the butterfly, never saw it before. I can see how that may be a 'sensitive' thing to adjust properly ;)
