Here's some more mud. This is my great uncle Herb Ostergren. The photo was taken outside of Union Center, Wisconsin on September 13, 1916

Actually, when this picture was taken Uncle Herb and my grandfather were on the second day of a one month trip from St. Paul to the east coast and back.

There were at least 2 versions of increased traction differentials made in the era.
The “Scurlok” was a form of “limited slip” using spiral bevel gears for the actual differential.
The “Bailey” was a true locking style of a “ratcheting” type.
I have both!
