I was doing a little sewing on the 12 original leather seat the old stitching is coming apart. I was having a hard time, so in looking in dads tool box I found an "Awl for all patent date June 12 -12. when I looked up how to use it I found they still make them today. I am not sure how old mine is possibly 1912 , so have they been making this same tool for 100 years

If you go to antique malls/stores, you should easily be able to buy a genuine old sewing awl in good condition and maybe even in its original box. Should be under $20.

There are better made sewing awls still available on Amazon. I was thinking they are used for sewing leather also besides heavier linen. The better one on Amazon is around twenty dollars and supposed to be pretty good or so the add says.
