FJ - OK Ladies <> Show Us Your Model T’s !

Post by FreighTer Jim » Wed Mar 24, 2021 10:18 pm

I’ll start with this Speedster I dropped off
last year to a Lady near Chicago.

She always wanted a Model T Speedster
and found one in California 👍

If she is going to drive it around like that, she better carry some sun block for her legs!

Here’s a shot of the wife and daughter demanding a ride in the speedster...

One of them can’t reach the pedals... yet! Once she can... I’m not sure I’m gonna get the car back😉

Fantastic Harry! Love it. Too often I know of, and hear of cases where the husband becomes unable to drive due to ill health and the Model T (and other cars) sit idle because the husband never took time or encouraged his wife/partner to learn to drive or do even the simple maintenance on the car. My aunt is in her mid 60s (lucky she isn’t on the forum else I’d be dead for saying that figure) and loves going out in her T. Hers is the black one on the right with mine on the left. Two family cars from new - been together on and off since 1925.

Thank you Alex.
Right now we are building an early brass T fire truck for Rosalie.
She has done much of the body design and spends a few hours each day working on it with me.
She has made it clear that she wants improved brakes and lots of gold leaf.
She has already purchased the gold leaf and will be applying it herself.

Burger,
I just love your purple headlights. Is that what makes the truck such a chick magnet ?

I got a picture yesterday of my daughter in her speedster, on her way out to scare her mother. She finished it last year at age 16.

We have three T's in the garage. These two belong to my wife.
Both were her fathers. I get to do the work and drive them.
Here she is with the touring after a paint job.

FJ,
Hey, I restored that first car pictured and sold it to the lady in the photo. It is very much HER car not her husband's. He is who is in the passenger seat. I Bought the car from a fellow who occasionally posts here and it had previously come from friends in California. It has a Signal Hill racing history. I was careful to hook her up with folks around Chicago who can keep her involved with the car and with Model T groups.

FJ was good enough to let me drive it up his ramps into the truck... saving both FJ and me a bunch of time over winching it up. It runs great on a restored American Bosch DU-4 Mag with McEachern gears and drive.

She fell in love with the car from a video I posted on You Tube when I sold it through MTFCA Classifieds. Why did I buy it? It had a nice early running gear which was to be placed under my Omnibus body. Having heard about it's history and seeing that most of the running gear was chrome plated in the '60's I decided it would be best to restore it. Since I didn't want or need a speedster I sold this and got another running gear for the Omnibus. I was really happy that this woman could realize her Model T dream with this car. AND I got to meet FJ!
