I’ve removed the trunk lock on my ‘26 roadster by removing the 4 little screws. Otherwise I’d have to use the key to pull the trunk lid open after I unlock it. Now I just open it with the tips of 8 fingers. Don’t keep any valuables in the trunk anyway.

Just press down hard when you inset the key and turn it counter clockwise.
You will surprise yourself!

Thanks guys, tried the press down hard advice but it’s tight against the body....it has nowhere to go.

If the pin that guides the key is broken or loose I have used a 90 degree pick to trip the latch.

Sometimes if I'm feeling lazy and don't want to grab the keys I just grab the top of the spare tire and give it a tug to the rear while lifting upward on the deck lid. If this works for you then you can work on the latch, mine was froze solid with rust and I had to drill out the rivets that hold it together. If I remember correctly the screws go through the rivets. Good Luck Jim

Thanks everyone. I dont have a rear tire mount the car so nothing to pull on. I am thinking now I might have to go up through the battery opening and push with something - similar to pulling on the tire mount? This one has me puzzled.

The last lock I had that would not turn with a key, I worked it free with some transmission fluid by first dipping the key and then inserting into the lock.
