When I lived in Butler. PA the Ford dealer had a parts department and repair shop just across an alley behind his dealership. A sign like that was hanging above the entrance door. I believe he closed that building in the late '70's early "80's.

(Butler is a small town about 30 miles North of Pittsburgh PA.)

That first sign should not be confused with this sigh from same time period. Both are same size too. Dan

Look like to me the first sign is a reproduction, the Ford script isn't authentic trademark. Modern repro to get around FoMoCo licensing.

Here is a link to Sam Bakers sign page. He had been collecting a long time. He was at Hershey, but I have not seen him in a while.
Check out his other pages for all kinds of other Ford signs. Sign I am asking about is on page 2,
So I do not think it is a reproduction. Dan

I don't think a slightly different style would save anybody from the Ford lawyers. :)

I have to look at my drivers license every morning to remember my name and look at the picture to see if it is me. :?

All I can say is that the last time I saw the sign above the parts department was 50 some years ago and it was a blue oval with Ford in the center and genuine parts along the edge. I don't recall the type style. Hell I don't recall what I had for breakfast!

The one thing that most authentic Ford scripts have is the forward loop on the lower cross arm of the F. I don't know for sure but I would say that the sign is a repo. I don't remember seeing any signs like that at swap meets so maybe Ford told them to stop making them and they did. It says on the collector sight, from 1940's and 1950's south eastern states, so in any case not Model T or Model A era and if 1950's Henry never knew about it having passed on in 1947.

I have talked to someone years ago that had one but it seems he was from out west. I have to think that Sam was collecting way before repro got worth doing. I was wondering with all the people on here maybe someone had one or had seen one.
I have two like the plain Ford, one being a NOS I got from Jesse James in the 1980’s. I have never seen the fancy Ford sign, Thanks Dan.

Did a search to see what might be similar or the same
This has a similar bottom loop of the F l https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ ... -443618776
FORD 1.jpg
Then I found the same site that you did https://jerseygaspumps.tripod.com/ford2.html
They have many Blue Oval signs with info on each

Gary: Do know any thing about the “ Follow the Ford Car” signs? I have a couple different to win ones. Only thing I have found is a picture in a 1910 Ford Times that has one on an early race car. You can pm me if you want. Thanks Dan
