So I put on a new flat tube radiator and can't adjust the spacing of the hood properly.. the problem is I only have a half inch between the fan and radiator.

I see you have a ‘26. You might have a long fan hub for a thin core, and the new radiator is a full thickness core. You might need to just find the short version of the fan hub.

What era fan and/or bracket? 1909 to about 1919? About 1918 to 1925? 1925 to 1927? If 1925 to 1927, which of at least three variations?

The brass era brackets are almost fool-proof. The about 1918 to 1925 brackets can actually be put on backwards. I forget which way does what, but the forward to back placement does shift a bit. The late 1925 through 1927 variations get more complicated. Also, there was a longer fan hub used for awhile that moved the fan closer to the radiator, (the radiator being used for a short while was thinner and needed the fan moved forward).
Best suggestions will need more information.

That is a long fan hub. It goes with a thinner core.

You need the shorter version fan hub. You can call Lang’s tomorrow and ask if they have a good used short version. They also sell the newer ball bearing hubs that might fit but they would cost a bit more than an original used on. They do have a supply of used parts.

You need the correct fan hub. Also, the fan and hub should turn freely on the shaft, but there should be no wobble.

So if I get the short fan hub I can move the top of the radiator back to fit the hood correctly, but can I move the bottom of the radiator back as well ?

The bottom spring mounts allow very little movement front to back - you'll need to loosen the bottom hose also - obviously, the top is adjusted with the brace rod & the upper hose.

Ok.. thanks for the help.. ill put a short hub on and move the top back, maybe that will help a bit at the bottom as well.. even if the bottom doesn't move much it will look better..
