Faster, Better or Cheaper- Pick Two
I used to believe that old axiom when I was younger,
then I went to work and learned it was mostly a story for telling customers.
But successful people are breaking that paradigm all the time - Henry Ford was one of them.
General Motors tried to corner the market on automobiles and would have been happy perpetuating that myth,
but Henry Ford was already too big to be acquired by GM, by being the exception to the "rule."

Amother way to say this is:
We offer three kinds of service:
GOOD – FAST – CHEAP
You can pick any two
GOOD, FAST service won’t be CHEAP
FAST, CHEAP service won’t be GOOD
CHEAP, GOOD service won’t be FAST

And having said that......
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

You are correct Sir! I will add a 4th part to this....The ability to succeed at doing the three listed & still make damn good money while the others "flounder" & are happy to "break even at the end of the year". Unfortunately in doing this we do have to make some sacrifices in our personal lives.
Wayne hit it on the head as well...Efficiency & I will add honesty!

Sign that should have been on a now defunct motorcycle shop that I worked at for about 2 weeks, and left after doing re-repairs on everything they had worked on for the month before I worked there - "If it's repairable, we can fix that".

So true. My eyes were opened when I worked for a company that won all the contracts the competitors turned their noses up at.Bills Auto Works wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 11:23 am"But successful people are breaking that paradigm all the time"

They made great money doing it too. Most of their best employees grew up on farms where they were used to making things work with nothing to work with.
