Best news this year!! I have been attending this "Gathering of the Faithful" for about 35 years. It is my favorite swap meet. Looking forward to seeing everyone there. Thanks to the LBMTC for keeping this great tradition alive and well.

Is that the same site where it used to be held? Last time I went was over 20 years ago. It was really a great meet.

Richard,
Yes, that is the very same site where the meet was held 20 years ago. The stadium is just as you remember it. Nothing has changed. The meet has moved locations a couple of times since then, but through the perseverance of Long Beach club members like Jeff Hood, Tom LeRoux, and others, the Long Beach meet is back in......LONG BEACH!

My very first time I attended this meet was in 1975 with my dad. I was 14 and I was the one that drug him there! I remember it like it was yesterday as I stood there on the sidewalk in front of Hamilton Bowl and watched a guy with a large motor home try to navigate his way down the steep ramp into the swap area, as a club member assisted the driver down the ramp. Just when it appeared that the vehicle had cleared the banner across the entrance which read "LONG BEACH MODEL T CLUB", the guy assisting the driver yelled "OK, you've got it!" the driver gave it the gas and the rooftop air scoop and the motor home quickly parted ways. This made for a certified "Unhappy Camper". The driver slammed on the brakes, put it Park, and exited that motor home in record time spewing expletives, along with "Who the #@// is going to pay for that!"
Good times! In all seriousness, I really had fun there.

Congratulations to Jeff Hood for, once again, securing this venue for the meet. I know it's not a walk in the park, by a longshot.

Mike Spaziano.

Jeff, Glad you were able to get the Vets Stadium scheduled for the LB Club swap meet. The date just might be perfect for some "Out of Towners" to get down this way after the National Tour! Since they're out here on the Left Coast it's an lovely drive this way on their way back home.

FJ, it's not the temperature that matters. It's the extreme humidity that gets to be unbearable!!!!!!! :D :D

Another Long Beach Model T Club Swap Meet is in the history books and it was a GREAT one!!!

There were more vendors than in previous years and it looked liked lots of parts were changing hands. The majority of what was offered for sale was definitely prewar and there was lots of great old iron (and brass) available for purchasing. It was nice to be at an old car swap meet that actually had REAL old car parts. I found some great Model T parts as well as some early non-Ford parts at very reasonable prices. There were also some great deals on complete and project Model Ts for sale. And how about that great original 1911 Maxwell GA four cylinder touring car that just got pulled out of a local garage? It was also nice to see a lot of younger people at this event. I think I saw more younger people here than at any other meet in recent history.

Of course, the best part was seeing so many old friends, who, like myself, have been attending this Gathering of the Faithful for over 30 years. The only thing that was missing was Humble Howard and Lucky #7, however, the club had a really nice memorial banner hanging in his honor.

Thanks to the Long Beach Model T Club for keeping this wonderful antique car tradition alive and well for over 60 years. Looking forward to next year.

I came out from Detroit and it was definitely worthwhile. Bought some neat Model T and non-Ford brass era parts as well as some speed equipment.
There was lots of great stuff for sale and the majority was prewar. Also some really neat cars on display and for sale. Prices seemed very reasonable and the sellers were eager to find new homes for their old iron. Coming back to this event brought back a lot of great memories. Of course, the best part was visiting with old friends.

As Ron Mac (great to see you, by the way!) stated, the only thing missing was Humble Howard and Lucky 7.

Thanks to the LBMTC for continuing this great tradition. Keeping an event like this going for 67 years is no small task. The hard work by all involved was greatly appreciated by those who attended.

I'll be back next year! Here are some photos I took as the event was winding down.

If there was one absolute bargain at the swap meet, it was this good looking TT C cab truck. The owner said it does 50 miles per hour no problem. I believe he said it had high speed gears. From memory, it had an a Ruckstell and Rocky Mountain brakes too. The cab and fenders were rock solid and it had a solid, original wood bed with great iron hardware. It was really hard to walk away from this one.
