Does this ring anyone’s bell? All brass, came with a bunch of carb parts. To me it looks like some sort of primitive carb,

Looks like part of a shift steam whistle?

or a relief valve.

It appears to have a fuel bowl and adjustable jet. Perhaps it had some sort of cylindrical, variable venturi piece that had a sliding fit in the body and was raised or lowered by the lever device to throttle the engine. I'm certain of one thing, I've never seen one of those, though I have seen some very old carburetors that had a similar general layout, but with a butterfly type throttle and choke. If it is a saftey valve or even a whistle of some sort, the bowl (if it is one) could be some kind of adjustable dashpot.

Just because they are bolted together doesn't mean they belong together. Someone at one time may have been trying to modify a piece of equipment and bolted them to each other.

It does appear to maybe be some sort of steam engine or boiler appliance,...perhaps an injector?

A sometimes forum contributor, Jeff Versteeg, had one of those at Hershey a few years back. Neither he nor I knew what it was then. Maybe he's learned since and can comment. (I'm as dumb as ever... )

If it says "Penberthy" anywhere on it, it's probably steam-related. It doesn't look like a steam appliance to me, or any type of high-pressure device.

Thanks all. It’s encouraging another has been spotted. That indicates it likely not a one-off. Perry keet, examining it closer tells me these parts have always been together, but possibly something else missing. I believe it’s oriented this way, because that is a float with a possible drain valve wing nut at the bottom. It appears it would drain out the little overflow fountain. To me, very unusual that all these nice castings would have no numbers, mold marks, logo, nuthin! It takes some close looking, but I did find a 4 digit serial number, very small and hand stamped. The two side openings, 180degrees apart, show solder tinning. At first I thought maybe pipe(s) had been soldered in place, but no, some rings have been soldered in place, one to change the diameter and the other to cover up some machined holes. Pretty sure the top lever would control a barrel up and down , possibly to change air intake. Feel free to share pics anywhere else, I have trouble posting stuff on smokestack and others.

I wonder... it's just a WAG, but It almost looks like a burner control valve for a boiler...

I’ve got some steam car friends. Perhaps that’s a good idea,I’ll run it by them. The source is important. I didn’t find this just laying around. I bought a huge pile of really good stuff out of the PNW. Originally, it came from a California collector. All really good stuff, hood ornaments, carbs and carb parts, dash clocks, emblems, accessories, do-dads. No junk. It’s the only thing I couldn’t identify.

Toilet valve? It does somewhat resemble a Victorian -era Thomas Crapper & Co. flush valve, perhaps a TC-3303-F with the much sought after adjustable lilac water dispenser feature...

Looks like it may be a steam trap to manually release water and steam.
