Looking for Model T's #6178671 (1922) and #4772405

I am trying to help a friend find a particular 1922 Ford Touring Car, motor #6178671 which was purchased from Niles Motor Sales Co. in Alma, Michigan on July 1, 1922 by his grandfather. They have found the original bill of sale and registration for the vehicle and thought nothing more of it. I, however, being a bit of a history buff suggested that it is possible that that vehicle may still exist and not have been scrapped. Do any of you know of any websites or forums that may have a searchable database to see if this vehicle (And/or the one traded in, Motor #4772405) still exists? I'm sure my friend would love to see the car and the current owner(s) would probably love to get copies of this original paperwork. Thank you for your time. Steve Bakker (In Alma, MI)

It probably won't help your search, but engine #4772405 was assembled on Friday, March 18, 1921. There's no way of knowing whether it was a touring, sedan, runabout, etc. Engine #6178671 was assembled on Tuesday, June 27, 1922. Again, there's no way of knowing what kind of body went on the car unless it's listed on the paperwork. Other than the serial number records, there is no data base. I believe your only chance of finding either of these cars if they still exist is to post your inquiry here, as you did, and on the AACA forum, the various Model T pages on Facebook, and in the Vintage Ford and Model T Times. Maybe somebody else can think of other possibilities.

All I can say is good luck in your mission. The best and only logical place to look to begin with is where is was sold. That’s the starting point.
After that it’s guess work if you don’t know who your grandfather sold it to.
If anything did survive it would probably be the engine but that’s a maybe. There have been many T blocks show up at swap meets and T collectors over the years.

Thank you for the build dates information, I will share it with my friend. Also, both vehicles were listed on the original bill of sale as "Touring" models.
