Post by TWrenn » Thu Apr 22, 2021 8:52 am

Yup...today is my Clarabelle's 108th. birthday.
Gonna celebrate with a box of bakery creamsticks from the local grocery's in-house bakery!
She got a tank of fresh fuel and fresh oil in her engine.

That was the name of my first Dog. Happy Birthday May your clutch never get stuck, you tires always have air, and valves never rattle. These cars can go forever!

As I recall, Clarabelle the clown never spoke, only honked a horn. Your Clarabelle looks much prettier but must have a similar "voice." Regardless, happy birthday!

Clarabell the Clown was played by Bob Keeshan, who later went on to be Captain Kangaroo. Clarabell, silent except for mime and his musical horn throughout most of the shows years, said two words in the official final episode of Howdy Doody, "Goodbye kids"! Although I was reaching the age where I was just a bit old for such a young children's show, I was already developing a serious interest and sense of history. I had watched the Howdy Doody Show for several years somewhat earlier, and we knew the show was coming to an end. So I remember making a point to watch the final episode on its Westcoast broadcast, just to see and hear Clarabell speak! My dad was an early color television technician, and did contracting service to the few color stations in the Bay Area at that time. So we had a bit of advance notice that something special was planned.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Clarabelle the model T! May your wheels run true for another 108!

I had no idea that Clarabelle was The Captain, but I do know that Peter Pan was J.R.'s mom....
