That photo popped up somewhere else but I can't recall where. Someone mentioned those were 16" Chevy wheels. I don't know. Also the location was mentioned but I lost track.
Seeing the crank and crankcase tells me it could be driven but visibility would be a challenge.

A comment on the forum where I lifted this wondered if it was a motorized sheep camp ? I could go with that.

I think his white face is a "wound mask", fairly common in the post-ww1 era when people would survive a ghastly, debilitating event (say half his face blown off), as to appear normal in public... There was a popular TV show (Boardwalk Empire?) where one of the main characters lost a third of his lower face and wore one to hide the disfigurement in a WW1 blast...

I think (maybe) the side windows are about where the driver would be sitting... still, it would take a HUGE amount of courage to drive something like that. ESPECIALLY on anything more than a rural 1 lane road.

Well I "haven't seen or done" everything yet but I have found some fun places to stick my nose. I found a Shorpy version of that photo in a larger format.

We can see the rivets and the '26-'27 frame brackets better.

We get a lot of fun stuff on this forum and I love to see them. I don't remember seeing it before but I like to snoop around and see what else I can find out. Photos bounce around on the web. I see ones I have posted pop up in odd places. I can google "Splitdorf Sparkplugs" and still see a MTFCA photo of them with my Harley in the background.

If the pic is correct then the steering appears to be on the left side (USA type), the pitman arm is visible and also there appears not to be any emerg. brake rods. I agree the seat position would be relative to that side window.

OK, I see now where I had seen that picture before. It was in Hemmings Classic Car June 2021. (Yes it's out already.) They offered that it was taken by Marion Post Wolcott in December of 1940 outside Camp Livingston near Alexandria, Louisiana. "Construction worker's (home-made house car)". Wolcott worked for the Farm Security Administration and Office of War Information.
I'm glad it is here on the forum too.

My guess is that it was either driven or towed to the location of the work, as a place to sleep while the work was being done. Probably never left the ranch it was on. It also sat unused for a spell, as evidenced by the wood boards leaning across the inside window frames to keep thieves from sliding up the windows.

It is left hand drive with a left side window to look out of, it must be driven by a railroad fireman, comfortable with leaning out that window to see what is ahead. lol
