I just acquired a Ford model TT truck. Trying to figure out what year it is. The engine number is 3230255.I found a list that says that engine was manufactured in July 1919. Here are some pictures. Will try to get more pictures tomorrow if the weather is better.

Closed cab stake body is 1924 earliest, right front fender has lower lip, 1924 new feature, believe checking other details on chassis would make your nice TT a ‘24. Often engine blocks were changed. Check engine for starter and generator, might be equipped.

Appears to be a '26 - '27 maybe - has 20" rear wheels & "boot scraper" running boards. Might also check the ignition switch panel - if it's rectangular, could be 1925 - if it's more oval, most likely '26 or '27.

Seems to be a 24-25 at the earliest. This TT has a cowl vent which didn’t appear till 24.

The Ford steel closed cab TT came out in April 1925 and was used 1925 to 1927. The 20 inch rear wheels and boot scraper running boards are typical of 1926-27 trucks. The later made closed cabs used a 1926-27 passenger car type key switch. It is common to find other year engines in trucks, having been changed out to keep the truck working. My 1925 TT closed cab express bed truck, that looks a lot like your truck, has a 1920 engine in it that has been there for a long time.

Having owned a 1926 coupe for 50 years, I know nothing about TT trucks, but I don’t understand how it can possibly be a 1926-‘27 without the new, more rounded 1926-‘27 fenders as shown in the attached photos. The TT definitely has earlier fenders. Jim Patrick

Trucks never got them ugly-azz newfangled "Model A" fenders !

Here’s a few pictures of my 1924 C Cab (early 24 ) I mounted on a car chassis and lowered the roof slightly so it would fit thru a 7ft door. Also the rectangle switch plate w/GPS marine speedo.

I concur with Burger regarding the TT's utilizing the earlier car fenders although, in a large book on Ford trucks, there is a photo of a prototype fancy TT with the "Improved" car front fenders.

I took some more pictures this morning. It has a rectangular ignition switch panel, it also has a starter motor and generator.

You’re right Brent. I did an image search on Bing for 1926-‘27 Model TT truck and could find no images showing a TT with the 1926-‘27 fenders. Thank you for educating me. Jim Patrick

I think that Fords ‘commercial’ fenders were used on TT trucks and eventually showed up on some cars also to some extent. Those are the ones that don’t have the curved bead on them like the car fenders do. The fender design stayed the same for TT trucks thru 24- 27. There is some mention about it in Bruce McNally’s book From Here to Obscurity. Always wondered why Ford didn’t use the later design fenders on the 26-27 TT trucks.

Dwight, Now that you have your truck home check for a frame number stamped on top of the passenger side frame rail near the hand brake cross shaft. If none then check the drivers side rail at hand brake. Like the cars, Ford started stamping the original engine number in December 1925, of Ford's fiscal year 1926, but not all factories did this. Another thing to check is that in March 1925 Ford stopped drilling the frame side rails for the cross bolt to mount the engine at the pan ears. The 20 inch rear TT truck wheels were available in 1925 and early to mid 1926 trucks used the 1925 type key switch like yours has. The floor board spacing for the pedals looks like the truck once had 1926 type pedals, now they are the pre 1926 type for the earlier motor. Trucks made in late 1925 would have used a 1926 type motor. Lacking a frame number, and for general information only, and not for the DMV if your title says diffrent, I would call the truck a 1925.

You and I have essentially the same truck. In case anyone hasn't told you yet, the
20" rear wheels are unobtainium and should be handled as such. The rims are even
harder to find in good condition. If yours are nice, handle them accordingly. Most
anything else for these is out there if you network it.

Shoot me a line any time for pix or questions. I hope you get as much pleasure out
of yours as I do mine.

Evidently, one of the hardest things to find is new rear 6.00 X 23 tires for a reasonable price.

There is lots of good information about the USA production Ton Trucks posted above.

Note with over 15,000,000 T's produced all over the world there were several variations depending on when and where the T's were assembled. Ford USA did not produce a production closed cab TT with the 1926 -27 style cowl, fenders, or hood. At least one prototype was produced in the USA but did not go into production. But both Australia & New Zealand did produce a C-cab as well as a chassis in their factories that offered the 1926-27 style front fenders, hood, and open cowl with the gas tank mounted in the cowl.
