Rajo engine is done.

Hey all, I thought I would share some photos of the engine that Mike Bender just finished building for me. Hopefully, I didn't drive him too crazy

He does good work. This is going back into my 26. I am trying to keep looking as close to something that an irresponsible young man would have put together in the late 20s early 30s as possible. Ok clearly that distributor is modern, and I am also putting juice brakes on the rear, but the rest of it I want to keep as authentic as possible. Went with red on the engine, because red is the fastest color.

I never considered mounting the intake like that. Will it hit a generator or alternator?

It will clear i believe. Its in that position for shipping. Im probably going to use a carter updraft. But i am going to try a few carbs on it first.

I think most of us are aware that a red engine goes faster than a black or green engine. Mike Bender does awesome work, and video's too.

I am surprised that there isn’t a oil pickup screen

It is a thing of beauty. Many of us are so envious.
Enjoy it.

How does the oil pump not loose its prime? I see. That pix was added after my question. Or my brain skipped a beat.

Looks like a check valve right above the pick up screen maybe?

So I don’t see a oil filter. Where is it hiding!!

You could run I-35 down in South Texas and get a speeding ticket in an 85 MPH zone with that. If the check valve is spring loaded, be sure it will open on demand, every time, and be sure it isn't too restrictive.

I will answer a couple of question as the OP doesn’t have the answers.
Oil filter. In a box, on a cart in my shop.
Check valve. Yes spring loaded
It will open at a very very low crack pressure
It will flow more oil than the pump will need to supply mains and rods. Not my first rodeo here guys.

I am not asking to check your work, I am asking to learn.
Looks like the oil pump is driven from the back of the cam? What style of pump?
Great looking engine Mike, I love this stuff.
Thanks
