FJ - Why Bill Bennett Should Receive Your Thanks

Post by FreighTer Jim » Sat May 01, 2021 8:27 pm

I left around 4 PM today.
I arrived Thursday around 4 PM.

All I heard from the vendors in line
And from the shoppers today was
“ Thank You To Whoever Made This Hapoen “

So - Mr. Bill Bennet of Visalia, California .... 👋

The Vendors & Attendees Wish To Say

Times have changed.

Thursday - Friday - Saturday I took probably four hours
minimum of live onsite videos & posted them in
real time on Facebook.

There is not time to take images & post them on
all the public forums.

Live streaming has been around for years.

I am late to the game but I am catching up 😏

Anybody take video or pictures of the items for sale on the actual swap tables so those that couldn’t attend can take a look see?

Hmm, most of us are walking around the meet with cell phones in our pockets, but we are too busy looking/drooling over all the stuff that we don't even think to take a photo! Duh. . . . I did take a photo of a "for sale" sign to show my friend Lloyd what he missed out on. . . (I'm a nice guy, right??). Just imagine a candy store with everything you wanted in car parts & that was there! I even bought some NORS hubcaps--not high quality, and chrome plated, but at $5 each, they are good to put on the hubs for taking on/off the trailer, or protecting bearings (without possibly sacrificing a nice original cap). That particular vendor had so much stuff, and such a variety--must be cleaning out a long-term hoarder's estate, AND his space was in the shade! (not much of that there, so it was NICE to look around all that stuff in the shade)--now that was one space I should have taken a photo. I also bought two DB gas tanks from them--not mint, but one had the gauge intact and the other had the cap; at $15 each, those two parts were worth the purchase. If I hadn't gotten so tired out from all the walking who knows what else I would have found that I don't really need. . . . :)

David Dewey

Hard to take pictures when you are going through piles of good old car rust and trying to carry dirty, heavy iron.
If you want to see what Tulare is like, come see it for yourself next year.
The best memories come from living the experience, not taking photos!
This was a GREAT swap meet and should be on everyone's 2022 calendar.

I've been to Hershey, Long Beach, Chickasha and Bakersfield, and this meet tops them all!!! All of the brass era parts were in one location with modern iron in a different place. Great vendors, excellent prices, loads and loads of parts and extremely well organized. Along with all those things the weather was perfect. I talked with Bill Bennett and thanked him for organizing a great meet!! My son, grandson and I will be at this meet next year!!

I thanked Bill several times during the meet. That should be enough!

Thank you Bill - The meet was great. Do it again. Please. I brought my Dad, my wife, my sister & her husband. We got to see many of our HCCA & MTFCA friends. For many of us, this was our first big outing since getting Covid vaccinations. We bought a bunch of stuff and had a great time.
