That 26 roadster was the best deal on the field. Ruxtell, solid body , Ricardo head , excellent tires, nice upholstery , bumpers front and rear....I wanted to buy it... my wife said I already had one.

Yes there was a lot of good stuff at Luray. I found a nice 7 rivet pan. Have not seen one at a swap meet in many years.
Dennis and his team did a great job with the meet. The VFW were great host.
Every one that is in to Model T should go there and get a lesson on how to put on a swap meet.
Thanks again, Dan

Just returned from Luray. Sold a bunch of stuff. Lots of stuff to be had. Great to see many old friends. This was the first time here and we will be back next year. Thanks to the group for putting this well organized event on.

Looking on the site on Google Maps - how big is this swapmeet compared to Chickasha? Yeah I know - quality before quantity, but if you want to spend 500 bucks for a travel to a US swapmeet I just want to know if it's worth the spend. I enjoyed Chikasha back in 2010 getting faces on a lot of the people from the forum :-) - and not to forget - meet Bruce and get him to sign my copy of the "Black book".

I wanted to come up there, but the gas shortage hit right before I was going to call to reserve a room and I didn't want to be unable to get home. I went to a local engine and tractor show instead . MABY next year. I DID see while on I40 just west of statesville nc a white Ford pickup,F250 with a tandem trailer and a model T chassis with radiator on it headed west.
I wanted to go to Luray and find a better high radiator for my 26 speedster as the 1 I have is just to that point that i am not confident it will be any good.

We had absolutely no trouble finding fuel. Gas buddy said 4 out of 5 Luray gas stations were out of fuel. We arrive 30 minutes after that lookup and not one station was out of fuel. Too bad. If you didn’t make it due to fuel concerns, you missed a swell meet. I can’t remember how many folks are at Chickasha, but the quality and variety here was every bit as good. And a whole lot closer for us. The drive and scenery were great!

I brought 15 gallons of fuel along with me in case I needed it. Totally unnecessary. Along my entire route from southwestern NY state to Luray, did not pass even one station that was out of gas or had cars lined up. Prices were up some but I didn't pay over $2.89 the whole trip.

If you are into Early Cars and live east of the Mississippi, you need to be at Luray.
Heck you should come no matter where you are from.
Best stuff I have seen in years is there. Not the rusty scrap that is coming out at Chickasha. Like the Old Hershey! No cell phone cases, no beanie babies! No Chinese Tools. Just good old American iron.
Wait, there was one guy with some old farm tools, not sure who let him in??????
Go today to Human Resources and turn in your vacation for next year.

Seems like Chickasha is fading.

I'll probably skip it next year and go to Luray instead.

Better idea, GO TO BOTH! Twice the fun.
Give an old car guy a barn and he won't throw anything away.

The best wallet and cell phone cases I ever bought were five bucks at an antique car swap meet!
I still don't like their being there.
