Thanks is hardly enough this weekend. Keeping it T related, in my hometown of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Ron Baldauf and Gaylord Kerr never came back from Vietnam. I bought my first T from Gaylords dad. They never recovered from the loss of their only son. Mrs Kerr walked a mile to and from St Peters church every day for the rest of her life.
One of my best friends and T mentors lost his brother-in-law in Vietnam. Tim and Leslie Simonson’s brother,Davis Jones from Wellington, Ohio. Davis left a twin brother who just passed last year. Two other brothers from wellington were also both killed in Vietnam. We live in an old spice mill factory building in Norwalk, Ohio . When we were rehabbing it, a neighbor told me that a friend of his, Lauren Heydinger started his first ever job in our building right after graduation. He was called up for service in Vietnam, and never came back.He was killed in the infamous Tet offensive. We honor him with a permanent picture inside our home.
It doesn’t take a long look to find someone to think about this weekend, as we enjoy living our lives.

Thank you veterans, I think about them all the time. I served in the army, not during a conflict. Love all my brothers

Life is short and bitter sweet too. I have to have my day of peace to reflex on those before me whom paid the ultimate price and those I served with who died while serving. Bless them all for their love of our country, we will never forget!

Tim that was a great, touching post. Thanks for reminding us all ( not that most need it, but some do), of the importance of this national Holiday.
Not just a day off from work to play. God bless all those who paid the ultimate price that we CAN play. And thanks too, to all veterans and active service members.

For any who even slightly question the importance of our military presence overseas, I saw on a news feed that I get on my phone that the Taliban is already developing a renewed stronghold in Afghanistan thanks to the current C.I.C. withdrawing troops. Like it or not, the U.S. will NEED to stay there permanently.

Okay, off my soapbox.
Again, thanks for your posting Tim.

Tell most any veteran of WWII he is a hero. He will say. “I’m no hero. The hero’s are still over there...”. I’ve heard it more times than I can count. Truly, “the greatest generation” that saved the world, making it possible for us to enjoy the freedom many paid the ultimate price to secure. Here is where many of them reside. The American Cemetery at Normandy France, inland from the beach many of them died on. Semper Fi. Jim Patrick

Thanks Jim. Those pics always bring chills to my spine and tears to my eyes.
Just imagine too, all the families over here, with all their hero loved ones, over THERE, most of who's Graves they will never be able to visit at least once, to really say "goodbye, I love you", as well as "thanks for your sacrifice". So sad. Chokes me up just typing the thought. God bless all those heros.

Thanks to all our veterans. The second man from the right is my Uncle Ben Pierceall with his "whoopie", put together from parts he scrounged as they island hopped up toward Japan in the south pacific. They were only a few miles away when they dropped the bomb. He got to come home, but he had to leave the whoopie there. All that came home returned with great humility, never boasted and went about making a great life for us all. Thank You.

I believe the best way to tell a veteran ‘Thanks for your service’ is to be the kind of American worth dying for. Unfortunately, as a nation we seem to be getting away from this mindset. On this day I always think of my ‘68 high school classmate - Ezequiel Torres. He was a door gunner on a Huey and lost his life there. Thank you for starting this thread....
