Workin’ on the Centerdoor part 2

I took some parts I had lying around and mocked up an incorrect radiator and hood side.

As suspected by forum posters on another thread, the sills I have were set up to the wrong firewall when they were made.

The radiator side/hood side measurements are all the same in this era and you can see the hood side meets the firewall in exactly the spot it should.

My recourse is either I take the sills off and reposition the mounting braces or drop the dollars for two long ash pieces, re-draw and cut new ones.

What’s the going rate for ash?

From what I know is that both the wood firewall and the metal firewall are the same where they meet the body. you should only need to move the body ahead to meet the firewall. Change the body mounts or else the rear fenders may not be in the correct position to meet the running boards.

Jim,

If you use the incorrect firewall brackets, it puts the firewall in a different location

If I move the cowl forward, the inner cowl frame uprights will not screw into the sill.
