Old Buick towing Model T

Post by Rich Eagle » Wed Jun 16, 2021 8:31 pm

I hadn't seen this one before. The Model 10 Buick looks like it has towed cars before.

The Minnesota license plate is a three year plate, 1918, 1919 and 1920 indicating the approximate time period the photo was taken..
When did I do that?

You guys that know more about the old cars besides Ford might can tell if Buick had headlights that were close to what was used in Ford cars. Those Buick headlights sure look like the ones that are on the T. Maybe the after market companies made replacement headlights?
Looking how the T is being towed with no tires is why you see those rims that are worn out and mashed in! I bought a pile of old wheels years ago and there were a few like that.

I own two Buick Model 10's, 1909 and 1910. The original headlights were all brass Corcoran, gas. The headlights carried in this photo appear, at least at casual look, to be 1915 Ford, steel shell, brass trim, electric. The Buick shown did not have a generator so the lights are either battery-powered or an after-market generator was installed.

Neat photo, with the hurt 1915 Ford, that Buick does have aftermarket fork mounted elec. headlamps. Those were popular to replace the gas lamps when battery was added to run them.

This is how the Model 10 was advertised. You can see the gas lights and the rear seat that was removed. I think Dan's illustration of the black and nickel lamps is more likely than T lamps. They don't look like they had time to polish brass.

Okay now, where? Someplace in Minnesota. Some one should know where that hardware store was located.

Let's go looking for them Darel. I see in the Redwood Gazette that Sandsger & Hegdal sold Goodyear tires in Belview in 1915. That must be the place.
How much could it have changed?
