magneto post bolt size

Does anyone know the size of the magneto post connector stud? I lost the nut when I removed the whole thing from the engine so I wouldn't damage it, when pulling the engine. It's back in now, but, alas without it's nut. I checked with the normal hardware stores, but it appears to be between current standard sizes, although the pitch spears to be 24.
I don't know if it is an original or not, but does have the spiral doing that tapers to a point, for the magneto connection.
Thanks in advance...

I do believe that the thread is 12-24 for the mag post.

That size didn't work on mine. Close... But loose enough to be afraid it won't hold tight. . ... Nor a 10/24. I see several different new ones available... I suspect they use current , standard sizes. Perhaps mine is just worn?

If you don’t have the magneto post installed take it with you to Ace hardware, or other hardware stores and try to find one that works. Is yours the original post or a reproduction. Maybe the repro is metric if that’s what it is?
A 10 or 12/32?

Joseph M. is correct. It's #12-24. Yours may be worn, as you say, or the contact stud is an incorrect replacement.

I was thinking that 12/24 nuts are used in other places on a T besides the Mag post.
Is it the timer posts, coil box nuts and a few other places?

John ...As I was typing my possible 'worn' post... I thought of the same. Maybe my sparkplug wire nuts, timer nuts, and coil standoffs. langs has a replacement nag post conductor... With the 'springy' end... But doesn't say if it comes with the nut (you can't take ANYTHING for granted, anymore!)
