It doesn't get more Canadian than this

So my big size 14 feet keep stepping on the starter switch when the engine is running resulting in horrible noises coming from the starter! Solution? drill a hole in a hockey puck and drop it over the button. Easy to remove for starting, appropriate black colour, and cheap to replace if lost or stolen!

What's a hockey puck? I've heard of hockey sticks, my Labrador loves chasing a hockey ball, and we have a few hocky sheep in our flock.

My friend carries a roll of black electricians tape and just drops it over the starter button. Serves a double purpose (if he needs tape)
Nonetheless, the puck is a elegant solution to the problem.

My understanding is the Hockey Puck is the “Ball” they smash around the court with the stick.
Apparently, it should never leave the ground or get airborne and the stick never swung higher than knee level
I maybe corrected .....

I don't think that can be it Alan. Hockey is played on a pitch, not a court. That puck would get lost in the long grass off the pitch.

Beginning to make me wonder if anyone in Australia ever ice skates on a rink. And you do not want to get hit by a hockey puck. Made of hard rubber. It hurts.
Remember, 'Ice is slippery!'.

Now it makes sense. Hockey is played on turf, mostly artificial these days, and they use a hard white ball, which you also need to avoid. Ice hockey is a different game. I believe a Canadian team is/were World Champions.

I learned when I lived in Holland that (a) if an American says "hockey," he means ice hockey and if he means the other one, he says "field hockey," and (b) if a Dutchman says "hockey," he means field hockey and if he means the other one, he says "ice hockey."

In Canada there is only one kind of hockey. It is taken for granted that when you say "hockey" its played on ice. If anyone says "ice hockey" we know they're from away. We used to make a rink in winter and play regularly in winter. there was a shack with an old barrel stove and me and three of my buddies took care of the rink. one guy would be outside flooding and when he got cold we'd trade off. The other three would sit in the shack and smoke and tell lies. When we played we'd have to shovel the snow off the rink first - good way to warm up! we played with just a stick and skates for equipment, no pads, helmets etc. I can attest how hard a rubber puck is at -30. those were good times.

I've been around long enough to remember the "old" NHL eight teams. They were staffed by almost 100% Canadian players and only the goalies wore pads or helmets.
