Re: Model T prevails at Lincoln!
Thanks everyone for the thoughts. I was scheduled to drive the car but was not feeling well and this is a machine that demands complete concentration. I’m glad about that because Robert was was more than up to the job and he has put so much into this endeavor. He richly deserved the crown. The Wild Cherry II is in need of some care having given us so much without major issues for some time. The car has heart and a desire for victory, the marks of a champion. It has given us both in spades. So now it’s coming back into the shop for some well deserved care and maybe a little more poison in the engine room. We hope to be competitive at future events. There are a couple on our calendar. It sure was a hoot to get Robert’s vintage motorbike out on the salt at Bonneville. I must have hit 15 mph at least.

Re: Model T prevails at Lincoln!
Les, be advised that you can participate regardless of where you are from but to compete for awards you must have a Ford block. That said, I have never seen tech inspectors check out an engine that carefully. The model A guys know not to come with an aluminum five main Donovan block if they are are going for the crown.

Here’s the trophy presented to the Wild Cherry team at Lincoln. It’s a reproduction of the flying skull mascot on the radiator of the legendary Ed Iskenderian’s T roadster on display there. Note his signature on it, Isky was there and a real spark plug at less than a month short of 100 years old.

Re: Model T prevails at Lincoln!
Congratulations!
This arrived today. Not sure if the 1911 Case racer or other Ford racers were included. Still, for only running for a few days, I was happy with our time.
Six Ford Special racers competed between 1910 and 1912. All performed well (including one sent to France in 1911), and ours last ran a race in September 1911, taking first place.
I think Henry Ford and Frank Kulick would be proud.

I found this video on YouTube showing both cars making a run and a close up of Erik watching.

I sure don't like where the E-Z Ups and spectators are! Would not happen at a Nor-Cal FAST Hill Climb! I guess they have never seen a broken axle.

Can someone post the other category winners and their times? Or a link if they are on the web?
