I have a five quart container of 10-30 conventional oil not blended is this safe to put in the T

Almost certainly.

If you have clean oil in the 20 to 30 weight range that's less then 50 years old, it is almost certainly better then the oil Ford put in the T.

10/30 oil is the go to oil for most T's.
What kind of condition is your engine in ?? Recent rebuild ??

The engine had a total rebuild about 3000 miles ago

So, hopefully, this is the 4th or 5th oil change, right?

10/30 is fine for running around town and short tours. Some drivers who do longer trips like 15/40. Some of the long dist. marathoners like 20/50.

George, I put in some 20w50 one time at oil change and then drove the car and I couldn't figure why I couldn't get up to my normal speed. Went back home drained oil again and went back to 5 or 10W30 and the car cruised back at my normal speed. I do believe it was a perfect test.
Can't be sure but I would say and Bet that no Montana 500 guy would use a 20w50 oil in his T.

Well Gene, I use 20/50 synthetic. Either Amzoil Z-Rod or Walmart 4 stroke motorcycle full synthetic oil. A T Engine builder of some reputation in SoCal recommended for all his engines and another long distance cross country T driver uses 20/50 in his cars. My car zips right along. And like I said nothing wrong with 10/30 at all.

I tried various oils a few years back. I found that a "wet clutch" motorcycle oil caused my clutch to slip. I think it was Valvoline 5W30. Fairly expensive for motor oil. And it might work great if your clutch is tight.

I finally decided that they all ran well on Shell Rotella 30 W and that was fairly inexpensive at WalMart. Then I found Advance had Rotella on sale AND if I ordered on the internet with in-store pickup I could get another 20% off. I stocked up. Hope oil doesn't go bad!

Most folks I know use 5-30 or 10-40.
Seems like 5-30 does a better job of running down the Oiler tube and splashing around.
I use 5-30.
