Proper Generator Setting If Running On Battery

I'm converting my 25 Touring back to trembler coils and timer. Going through everything I've noticed some questionable, missing, and just plain wrong wiring. So I'm replacing it all. When I'm done it might turn out that my magneto actually works!

In any event, assuming my magneto doesn't work and I always run on battery should I adjust the third brush of the generator to increase the output beyond 5-7 amps? If so, what is the appropriate output to maintain the battery under those conditions?

Thanks

The ignition draws at most about 1 amp (factored for continuous). So you already have more output than enough.
