I haven’t been at the Village since the Motor Muster last Sunday. Much of the rain forecast for this weekend bypassed the area after the initial flood.

Typically the only area that sees high water is the steamboat loop. The Corp of Engineers did a reroute of the Rouge River in the seventies and took out the oxbow still visible on Eagle Road. They also lined the river basin with raised concrete sides. So any flooding in the Village will be minimal.

The flood prior to the reroute was the one that damaged the wood hull of the original Swanee steamboat. As the basin flooded, the boat drifted on its moorings and landed across the dock after the water receded. If I recall correctly, the deck was later fitted to a steel hull and the boat was placed back in service.

Disclaimer - These are my personal recollections and I do not speak for the Henry Ford.
