Is there any illustrated assembly drawings for drive shaft assembly?
My real interest is the drive shaft spool that holds the pinion bearing assembly.
What would be used for flat washers or shims between the end of the Hyatt bearing and the pinion nut.

Certainly the T1 service manual shows the assembly. I dont have on with me now. Check yours.
There are NO washers between the hyatt bearing an the pinion GEAR. It floats a bit. Under the inner bearing sleeve(installed before) is a thrust ball bearing stack. Consisting of 2 thick washers with a radiused groove to match the caged ball bearings between.

If I understand your question correctly, you are asking about how the drive shaft thrust is controlled for thrust in the rearward direction at the drive shaft bearing spool. The answer is that in the stock Ford design the rearward thrust is controlled at the U joint. The front driveshaft bushing is faced to run against the U joint which is pinned to the driveshaft .

You should mention the year of your car! Does it have the early spool or the late one? The early spools use a distance plate, which could be considered a washer.

I ave a 1923 coupe with a closed spool . I guess it called that it has a bump.

Your car should have the open spool.(see the bolts between the flanges.)
If closed. Does the drive shaft tube flange fit over the edge of the spool or butt up to it? If it butts up flat, may be correct tube & the open spool will fit with it.

Can I use the coded spool? That what is on it now. And the drive shaft tube bolts up flush to th pinion assembly . I think someone put a different driveshaft it at one time. And the bump side fits up correctly

I need to do better with my typing. I should have posted a closed spool.

The closed spool is incorrect for your year. No problem using it though. Either D/S tube will work with the closed bolt spool. The early D/S tube wont fit the open bolt spool without shaving the flange flush.

The closed spool will only fit a 23 rear axle assembly if the flange on the back of the spool has been removed. If it has been together, presumably that has been done. If not, ????
