I use a small 12 volt battery to Buzz my coils:
What gauge wire should I use between the battery and the coil box on a 1915 non starter car?

#14 should be plenty. Coil only pulls 1.2 amps

Clarification; coils typically draw a peak current of about 6 Amperes when spark fires. The average current is much lower because the coil points get pulled open periodically by the resulting magnetic field, interrupting the flow of current, which causes the spark to fire, lowering the average coil current over time.
