Road trip to get the family T
Good morning-
I'll be heading out to CA from FL to pick up the family T and get her back on the road. I guess this means you are now warned. . .
She needs a little TLC. I'm going to have to do a little ruckstell work, new radiator core, swap out the model B carb for a more period winfield, bands, and transmission gaskets (the engine needs to be pulled to do that) and I've had this nice neville wheel in storage. Last time I drove her was for the 200 mile scvmtfca endurance run which she completed.
Anyways it will be a long trip to say the least and I've already started, I just need to unload the trailer and Ill be heading west from TN.

Starbucks and I think Wendy's, too. Just park in the lot. You don't have to go inside.

Just about everybody has free WiFi any more. Competition caused it. Some cell phones need the WiFi shut off if you're using mobile data as it slows down the phone down since its trying to search WiFi at the same time.

Made it down to San Diego where I am at a friends house. We took the scenic route down US1 and managed to get almost 14mpg. Traffic thru LA and the hills are a bit brutal on mpg when towing.

Free wireless WiFi
Lowe’s & Home Depot both have free WiFi
that can be accessed from the parking lot.
You can park overnight at most stores
if you leave early in the morning.
That route however has uncomfortable night time
temperatures this time of the year - so staying overnight
might not be an option.
Currently 61 degrees F

Re: Road trip to get the family T
My computer has no battery and while I have an inverter it isn't that important to get online. When I leave SD I plan on leaving in the evening and doing that drive when its cooler. Phoenix to Houston is a brutal stretch no matter which way you look at it.

Re: Road trip to get the family T
If you come down the Florida turnpike, stop at the Stuart exit and my son and I will meet you at the park and ride to wash the dust off with slobber! lol. Then you will know where to bring it to ride up the beach with us in our speedster when you get it finished!

Re: Road trip to get the family T
Nice invite, I almost never run the turnpike. No need to spend money to go that little bit faster putting more wear on my car. I typically run up and down the west coast as it's a more peaceful drive. As far an update I am in Houston and pulled the motor today to replace the bands and reseal the hogshead which was spewing oil last endurance run.

Re: Road trip to get the family T
It's back in service. Some ruckstell issues to resolve but I already pulled the motor out and redid the bands and sealed the hogshead. After I get it titled shes going to be in TN.
