Neat stuff. Most folks miss the irony in the fact that the band leader billed as the King of Jazz was a white man whose name literally was White man. The heart of jazz being improvisation, I would say the real king of jazz in the twenties was Louis Armstrong. I don't know if he ever rode or drove a Model T, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did.
Whiteman preferred a more upscale ride.

Well, the TIRES on that Cord are sure Jazzy! Paul Whiteman must have had some good instincts about the music of his era, his was one of the most recorded or listened to orchestras in the country in the late '20s and '30s. However, for some of the best and/or hottest jazz of the day, one cannot hardly beat the Hot Five's or Hot Seven's featuring leader Louis Armstrong! He and his horn was fantastic! I need to find my cassette tape and put it back into the car.

Paul Whiteman is with a L-29 Cord front wheel drive car. All L-29 chassis were used from 1929 to 1934, I believe.

Straight 8 cylinder Lycoming engine, Cord made complete cars and also supplied chassis to custom body manufacturers
