Flushing the coolant system

Post by ewdysar » Sun Mar 17, 2019 12:22 pm

We’ve discussed coolant choice, and how often to change the coolant...

What is the accepted coolant flush process? I vaguely remember Steve J. posting something about this on the old forum. What additive, if any, is appropriate for the T system to help get more of the crud out?

Thanks and keep crankin’
Eric

I've used laundry soap. I've used CRL. I've used vinegar, but that has to be flushed with water & neutralized with lots and lots of baking soda afterwards.

All of them didn't get all of the gunk out. But they did remove quite a bit.

My 26 Roadster was pretty rusty from setting and running straight water. It also had a lot of grease and grime from over greasing the water pump. It ran hot. I tried Dawn, Purple Power, Simple Green, Vinegar and lots of flushing. Nothing really did the trick. Then I bought Thermocure, it is made by Evaporust. I ran it through followed up by several flushes and it helped a lot. I bought a second bottle and did the same. It came out very nice. I even removed the water pump and it does not run to hot. I did the same thing with my 26 coupe and had very good results. I highly recommend it. Bought it at Walmart for about $20 a bottle.
