Recommendations for the best heat resistant paint to hold up on my 1914 kerosene and acetylene lamps, please.

I would think Concept, black gloss would work. Awfully good paint.

I used ordinary Centari as on the rest of the body. Properly set up headlamps just don't get that hot. Surprisingly, the chimneys don't either, not as much as you would think anyway, though you certainly don't want to grab hold of one when the lamps are lit.

TWrenn: is it spray can or brush on? Where can I find It?

I have successful used both Rust-Oleum products. I find them much easier to use because of their curing times/process. "Engine Enamel" shoul be all you need, but let it cure
I was never happy with VHT paint .
Rust-Oleum
"Engine Enamel" rated at 500°F
Dry and recoat times are based on 70°F (21°C) and 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to the touch in 20 minutes and dries to handle in 1 hour. Apply a second coat or Clear Coat within 1 hour or after 24 hours. Wait 7 days for the paint to fully cure.
"High Heat" is rated at 2000°F (the melting point of copper)
Sprays: Dries to touch in 30 minutes and to handle in 1-2 hours. Allow paint to dry for 1 hour before heating. In order to achieve full cure, the coating must be heat cured at 450ºF for one hour. Product may emit smoke and harmless odor.
Brush Goods: Dry and recoat times are based on 70ºF and 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to touch in 2-4 hours, to handle in 5-9 hours, and is fully dry in 24 hours. Allow paint to dry 24 hours before heating. When using the subject surface for the first time, open windows and provide ventilation as the new paint finish may emit smoke.
VHT Curing instructions
On the Vehicle
Paint must be completely dry before curing
Run at idle for 10 minutes
Cool for 20 minutes
Run at idle for 20 minutes
Cool for 20 minute
Run under normal operating conditions for 30 minutes
Off the Vehicle
Paint must be completely dry before curing
Heat to 250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes
Cool for 30 minutes
Heat to 400°F (204°C) for 30 minutes
Cool for 30 minutes
Heat to 650°F (343°C ) for 30 minutes

Brush on. Sadly it probly only comes in a quart can and as its smallest amount, it's not cheap, but its excellent paint. You can brush it nicely if you thin it a bit with a good quality brush. I also spray it with one of those little glass Preval spray bottles. They work nice and all the parts stores sell them. I believe the Concept is PPG, typically at an auto paint supplier. Every black car owner should have a quart in stock. Mine is almost gone, but right now I only have 2 cars with black fenders, the bodies are dark blue and the Fordor is maroon so I don't use much anymore.

Marty, if it only comes in a qt can buy one and when you’re finished I’ll borrow the rest of the can from you.

Barry Louks, I plan to see that movie Gran Torino I hear the last scene is a really good one with that lawyer.

Marty was very convincing as the lawyer in Gran Torino... it was a good movie, not a "formula" piece.
